Who do you photograph?
Mums during pregnancy, newborns to toddlers, siblings and families.
My baby is 2 weeks old. When should I book a newborn session?
NOW! I always keep space available each week for newborns. Priority is given for babies under 14 days.
I'm pregnant, should I book a newborn session now?
Absolutely! I take bookings from 6 months pregnancy. To make a booking I simply note your due date, and expect a call or text message (generally by a proud daddy in hospital!) as soon as possible after your baby has been born to make a solid booking. Newborns at 5 or 6 days old is the ideal time.
I'm 28 weeks. When would you suggest a pregnancy session?
Generally speaking, pregnancy sessions are best held around 30-35 weeks. However I have photographed bellies at 40 weeks (just 5 hours before labour!) and at 29 weeks in the case of twins. It is preferred to hold the session when your belly is nice and round and you are still "comfortable" to be to move around. The most common time is around 33 weeks.
Where do you photograph?
Most of the sessions are held at Photobaby's Home Studio in Pascoe Vale. This just works as I have the room at a comfortable temperature, all the props, backdrops and lighting are set up ready to begin as soon as you arrive. Across the road is a beautiful green park with natural garden rocks, trees and a creek for children to investigate. I get some lovely natural photos while the children are playing or hiding and the park provides a perfect backdrop for family shots. If I'm to photograph your special event, I'll of course come to you.
How much does it cost? click here. Photobaby requires a $50 deposit to secure your booking.
Deposit details will be emailed once a time & date is scheduled. Please call 24 hours before your photo session if you think your child will be unwell on the day and you need to reschedule. If however a cancellation is required, Photobaby retains the deposit.
Can we have extended family members or friends photographed during our session? Yes, but if you have more than one family (Mum, Dad, 3 children, 2 grandparents) you are required to book the Photobaby Event Package. All photo sessions require planning so numbers are important. Introducing additional people will
likely happen at the end of your session so distractions for children are reduced. Please be aware that the more people you have at your session the longer it will take to arrange and coordinate people so you are likely to receive less photos in the allocated time frame.
Do I need to prepare anything for when I come?
I have all that I need to take the best photos of your precious one.
Once your online booking form has been submitted you will receive an email
with details and Tips & Suggestions for an easy & enjoyable photo shoot.
What should my child and adults wear?
See here for Tips & Suggestions to help guide you. There are also great suggestions here for what families or groups of people can wear. Generally though, I suggest that if you would like to be in some photos with your baby that you both wear plain, comfortable, unpatterned clothes. Layered clothes look create and create depth. Black or white works best for adults so the focus is on faces and expressions. Ensure all cat or dog hair is removed from your tops especially if black as it will show up in your photos.
When will I get my photos?
Approximately 4 weeks.
After the photo shoot there are many hours spent working on the shots before you receive them.
Your photos will be downloaded (1 hour), the best photos manually selected (1 hour), retouching of blemishes/scratches etc (approx 1 hour), colour corrected (1 hour), processed into black & white with further black/white correction (15 mins), then processed into lo-res and hi-res jpgs (15 mins), disc designed with your own DVD/CD cover and label (15 mins), contact sheets (thumbnails of all photos with filename) used for print selection created, DVD/CD created and burnt (2 hours) OR an online gallery developed ready to view.
Where can I get my photos printed?
I arrange a variety of wonderful gifts and framed prints. For samples and prices click here. Alternatively anywhere that prints digital photographs. You can print from your home computer onto gloss photo paper, print onto canvas and have your favourites enlarged for any size around 297x 420mm (A3). Larger sizes are possible when printing onto canvas. Enquire when ordering at your local photo store.
Need more time for your photo session/event?
Additional time is charged at $50 per 30mins. This covers photographers time and extra photo post-processing time.
The skin tone colours didnt print as I thought they would when I printed them myself. Why is this?
Every printer is colour calibrated differently depending on what printer, photo paper (Kodak, Fuji and Canon etc) and what ink is used which
is why you see a large range of results. Photobaby can guarantee
accurate colour first time in your prints as all factors have been
carefully managed. Slight colour variations may occur on digitally printed cards and calendars compared to your printed photos. This occurs because of the different printer, paper stock and printing method so it is out of Photobaby's colour control. For further detail click here. See the Online Shop for pricing.
What other items can I purchase?
After I have taken photos of your child, custom made jigsaw puzzles and fridge magnets are available.
Do you support childcares, kindergartens, playgroups or creche fundraisers?
Yes. Please contact me to enquire about how I can support your school.
Discounts?
Book with a friend and have your photo session followed by a friends photo session at the same location to receive a free A4 photographic print each.
Are your baby photos for sale like your general photography is?
No.Your baby photos are for you only. I may use some photos of your baby for advertising material (eg. leaflets) for PHOTOBABY.COM.AU. I will ask permission if I would like to use a photo of your child for these purposes.
What happens if your/Photobaby's equipment fails on the day?
I ensure all my equipment is in top working condition. I have 2 cameras - one of which is a back up and multiple lenses. Liability is restricted to a money back refund on my services or a rescheduled sitting should any occur.
What happens if my child is sick on the day?
If for any
reason you need to change your date and/or time please let me know as
soon as possible. Changes made within 12 hours of your session incur a
$50 fee. If however a cancellation is required, Photobaby retains the $50 deposit. Your $50 deposit is valid for 2 months from the date of your
initial booking should you need to change your photography date.
What happens if I'm running late to my photo session?
Please call to let me know how far away you are. Keep in mind that your session time still begins from your booked time so if you have a 1 hour session you may not receive the full amount of images mentioned in your package as I don't have the full length of time to take the photos. If I have available time following your session you may want to purchase additional time.
