I was so excited to spend the time to create a blog post with this genius (well I think so!) fun project to make with your kids. It took me about 10 minutes to collect what I needed and glue it together, then wait overnight for the glue to dry ready to paint with $3.99 black spray paint.
Can you believe how good it looks next to my Canon 5D Mark III camera.
It even features a removable lens cover. Unreal!!!
Here’s how I created this one:

STEP 1
Using your iPhone box, separate the items and use only the lid and the box.
STEP 2
Gather items you have to decorate your box. This could include gems, stars, sticker letters, whatever!
STEP 3
Glue Pop Top into the inside of the iPhone’s lid so it appears as the ‘lens’. Then glue this onto the iPhone box creating the basic camera. Cut a hole for the takeaway sauce container to sit over the ‘lens’. Decorate items (buttons/viewing screen) on using the super glue (except for the ribbon/cord) and let dry (overnight if using PVA glue).
STEP 4
Remove lens cap (take away sauce lid) and use whatever spray paint colour you wish, spray your ‘camera’. Let dry overnight.
STEP 5
Glue ribbon/cord on and let dry.
STEP 6
Wollah!
These are great if you want toy cameras for kids to use as photo props as they aren’t heavy and they’re pretty durable. It’s also a fun activity to reuse packaging you have lying around and terrific for kids creativity to decorate the explore their imagination playing with it. Kids can also pretend to be a real photographer by removing the lens to take a photo. Cool.
